Olek: “Synthetic Nature”

GJ had the opportunity to check out Olek & David Peterson’s new gallery show, “Synthetic Nature” this weekend at the Krause Gallery in New York City’s Lower East Side. Olek is famous for her knitting and crocheting all over the world but this time she took on a new medium – balloons! The main attraction in the gallery is the inflated knitted balloon web in the entrance.  This web is attached to David Peterson’s machines that create the illusion that the boxed machines are keeping the balloon web afloat! The gallery walls are covered by unique photography of Olek pieces that are in frames made up of crocheted balloons.

The lower level of the gallery features pieces of work from a handful of other artists.  Featured are Emil Alzamora, Jordan Eagles & Hanksy!

Many more images from Olek’s Krause Gallery Show after the jump!
