Los Angeles based street artist Morley is often featured on GJ Project for his witty street pieces and cool projects such as Morley Men. Morley has created yet another cool project called “OCCIDERE SOMNIUM” (translates to “Killing The Dream“). Morley picked 50 names / addresses out of a public phone book and sent those people the above letter. The letter aims to make the recipient feel important and feel that they are great. Also, it aims to show regret and remorse from anyone in their past that rejected them.
Here is what Morley had to say about his latest project:
“The gratification one derives from knowing that someone who rejected them in some way regrets it is one of the more potent sensations in life. This led me to fantasize about a formal organization made up of every person who ever rejected you, and their collective regret being communicated in something resembling a government correspondence.
The Latin phrase written across the flag in the eagle’s mouth is OCCIDERE SOMNIUM, which translates to “Killing the Dream”, a phrase that felt apropos for an organization built on rejection. Also, the address of the society is actually the address of my old high school. This also seemed appropriate.“
